Get first aid or medical care when needed. Tell the on-site supervisor and First Choice Employment as soon as possible, including any treatment you received.
Report when you need professional treatment beyond first aid, miss work, earn less, work fewer hours, or remain on modified duties for more than seven calendar days.
Record when and where it happened, the work you were doing, who you told, any witnesses, and the care you received.
WSIB tells temporary agency workers to name the agency that sent them to the job. The worksite is recorded separately as the location of the incident.
When reporting is required, the employer must send its report within three business days and give you a copy. Keep your own report, claim reference number, and related documents.
WSIB says workers generally have six months from the injury date, or from the diagnosis of a work-related illness, to claim benefits. WSIB decides whether a claim is covered.
